Defining Insomnia

Insomnia in a nutshell is a prolonged abnormal inability to achieve adequate sleep. When a person loses sleep, it makes it difficult to adhere to normal functions during the course of a day. The person often tries to find an area during the day to take a nap, however, during the supposed resting time the mind begins to wonder hap haplessly, interrupting the sleep. Lack of sleep increases anxiety, panic attacks, tension and other uncomfortable problems, thus finding a solution is the answer to dealing with insomnia.

When a person is stressed, the nervous system is affected. The nerves can cause the person to lose the ability to cope with stress, think logically, and may cause skin irritations and chest pains. If you notice ongoing itching problems of the skin, rashes, welts, hives and other skin problems then you are suffering a nervous problem that can cause the person to lose sleep, suffering insomnia. If this is the problem then you will need medical treatment verses mental health treatment, unless you are diagnosed with a disorder or ailment of the mind. Seeking medical treatment is the first step to determine what the problem is, and if you have a nervous problem then the doctor can prescribe you medications that will help you rest while relieving you of the nervous systems.

To learn more about insomnia you must learn about mental health, physical health and stress. Learning a few details of the various problems can help you to get a better understanding of your self. Mental ailments or disorders can cause insomnia, thus if you are experience symptoms such as, hallucinations, hyperactivity, lose of memory, panic attacks, outbursts, or other related problems then you will need mental health care in order to eliminate the insomnia. Most mental health issues require the assistance of medicines; therefore, you can knock out two problems under a single program.

Medical problems can be more difficult to decipher if the symptoms a person is enduing appears to be mental. For the most part chest pains, skin irritations, aches of the body, tension, and insomnia is a surefire sign of nervous conditions, which are treated easily by a physician.

Regardless of the reason that insomnia exists it is important to learn techniques that will help you reduce stress, as well as learn exercises and proper nutrition that will help you to maintain a stable lifestyle. You will also need to learn management schemes to cope with daily stresses, such as bills, children, work, and so forth. To learn management skills you can start by evaluating your current situation and search for a method to deal with each problem that appears. It is important to deal with only one problem at a time to survive the stress.


To reduce stress you can start by adding a new item to you daily living. In other words each day pick a flower, or buy your self something in expensive. Seeing the familiarity daily can bring forth stress, thus adding a new spice to your life can reduce stress, which also helps a person sleep. If possible join a club; otherwise plan a special activity at least twice per week that will take your mind off your current problems. Always remember that we have the power to change some things in our life, but we do not have the power to change everything in our lives. Another helpful tactic for relieving stress is to relax after each meal. Once you are finished with your meals, do not worry about getting the dishes done or clearing the table, rather sit on the couch and watch a comedy, or else take a few deep breaths and exhale.

If you are not willing to remove or else minimize the problems that are causing you to suffer insomnia, then you are at a high risk since you are subject to heart attacks, strokes, high-blood pressure and other health related problems.

Insomnia defined is a mental and physical state that captures a persons mind and body and controls the habitats, until that soul takes the steps to take back his or her control.
